Update: At Xiaomi’s first-ever press event in Germany, Xiaomi confirmed the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be sold as a “middle-class king,” on sale from October 7 exclusively on Amazon.de. The 6GB/64GB model will be sold for €249.90, with the first 3000 devices sold on Amazon.de for €229.90. The 6GB/128GB option will be on sale for €279.90.
The quad-camera device does include NFC in Europe, a variant to the original version released in India. Xiaomi confirmed an additional Midnight Blue color variant will go on sale in November, adding to the three Pearl White, Ice Emerald, and Electric Light Grey launch colors.
Now, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 8 Pro in Spain, starting at 249 euros (~$273) for the 6GB/64GB variant and 269 euros (~$295) for the 6GB/128GB option.
There’s no word on wider European availability, but you can likely expect pricing to be in the same ballpark when Xiaomi brings the device to other EU nations. Nevertheless, this means Xiaomi beats Samsung and Realme to launching a 64MP phone in Europe.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro’s main selling point is the aforementioned 64MP main camera, spitting out full-resolution shots or pixel-binned 16MP snaps. This camera is joined by three more on the back (8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, 2MP depth) and a 20MP front-facing camera in a waterdrop notch.
What else to know about Redmi Note 8 Pro?
Xiaomi’s phone also sports a MediaTek Helio G90T processor, UFS 2.1 storage, LPDDR4X RAM, and a 4,500mAh cell that’s the largest battery we’ve seen in a Xiaomi device this year. So if endurance is a priority for you, then you might want to give this a look.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro launches on September 26 in Spain via Mi.com, Mi Stores, and AliExpress. The phone will also be discounted to 229 euros (~$251) for the first 24 hours of sales. Xiaomi says the phone will be available via Amazon from September 30.
